PFT Machine

PFT machine, or pulmonary function testing machine, is a device used to measure how well your lungs are working. It measures how much air you can breathe in and out, and how quickly you can exhale. PFT machines are used to diagnose and monitor a variety of lung conditions, including:

**Spirometers** are the most common type of PFT machine. They measure how much air you can breathe in and out, and how quickly you can exhale. To use a spirometer, you will sit or stand in a comfortable position and place a mouthpiece into your mouth. You will then breathe in as deeply as you can and then exhale as forcefully and quickly as you can. The spirometer will measure the amount of air you breathe in and out, as well as the speed of your exhalation.
**Plethysmographs** are less common than spirometers, but they can provide more information about lung function. Plethysmographs measure the volume of air in your lungs and how easily your lungs can expand and contract. To use a plethysmograph, you will sit or stand inside an airtight box and breathe through a mouthpiece. The plethysmograph will measure the changes in air pressure inside the box as you breathe.
PFT machines are generally safe and easy to use. However, there are some potential risks, such as lightheadedness, dizziness, or chest pain. These risks are rare, and the benefits of PFT usually outweigh the risks.
